Nonprofit Grant Manager Job Description
Reports to: Financial Controller
Position Summary:
The Grant Manager is responsible for the full grant lifecycle, from identifying funding opportunities to ensuring compliance and reporting. This role is crucial in securing and managing grant funding to support Empowerment's mission and programs. The Grant Manager will collaborate with program staff, finance, and leadership to develop compelling proposals, manage grant awards, and maintain strong relationships with funders.
Responsibilities:
Grant Seeking and Development:
  • Proactively research and identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies that align with the organization's mission and programs.  
  • Develop and maintain a grant calendar to track deadlines and application requirements.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather information and develop compelling grant proposals, including budgets, narratives, and supporting documentation.
  • Write and edit grant proposals, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with funder guidelines.
  • Maintain a database of grant applications, awards, and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective funders.
Grant Management and Compliance:
  • Manage awarded grants, ensuring compliance with funder requirements and reporting deadlines.
  • Monitor grant budgets and expenditures, working closely with the finance department to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare and submit timely and accurate grant reports, including progress reports and financial reports.
  • Maintain organized grant files and documentation.
  • Communicate regularly with funders regarding grant progress and any changes to program implementation.
  • Conduct post-award grant management, including tracking deliverables, monitoring progress, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date on grant management best practices and regulations.
Internal Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather data and information for grant proposals and reports.
  • Work closely with the finance department to ensure accurate budget development and financial reporting.
  • Communicate grant-related information to relevant staff and leadership.
  • Provide training and support to staff on grant-related processes and procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to organizational planning.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, public administration, communications, or related field).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in grant writing and management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • Proven track record of securing grant funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to develop compelling grant proposals and reports.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong financial literacy and experience with budget development and management.
  • Knowledge of grant management best practices and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software/databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for the mission of Empowerment  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Detail oriented.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • $65,000 – 85,000 annually

Must be a Colorado resident. 

Minimum of 2 days are expected to be in the office in Denver, CO with at least 1 day being Wednesday.
